The Polini Grand Prix of Japan started Friday on the cold track of Motegi. The first free practice and also the last practice of today, Danny Webb was able to ride to a 13th position. Randy Krummenacher made to the 22nd position during this first session.
The weather circumstances are a lot colder than the desert temperatures of Qatar. It was barely 13th degrees at the Motegi circuit. During the 40 minute session of today the British rider Danny Webb needed a little bit more track time to get a better lap time and set-up. Because of a technical failure Webb missed ten minutes of the session. Still Webb was able to ride a decent lap time and got on the 13th position at the timesheets.
Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher wasn’t happy with is 22nd position. Krummenacher is still searching for a good suspension set-up and is convinced his lap times will be much better tomorrow. The weather forecast doesn’t look good for tomorrow. The expectation is rain for the Saturday for 90%. The DeGraaf Grand Prix Team assumes that the qualification session will take place in the rain tomorrow.
Danny Webb (13th, 2:02,637): ‘It was too bad that I had a technical problem in the middle of the session. Because of this I lost valuable track time. But then again, a 13th position isn’t so bad. I had to push at Qatar to get this result in the practice. Now it feels better with the other front suspension. I have faith for a good result here in Japan. Tomorrow I will be faster if it doesn’t rain.”
Randy Krummenacher (22nd, 2:04,177): “It isn’t going how I want it. The bike feels really fast but I have some problems with the suspension. I have to work on this together with mine team and when I have the right feeling I will be much faster. It is difficult for me to hold mine line and I hope it will be dry tomorrow so we can work on this. I know for sure I can be faster. The Aprilia is fast enough to do it.”
