Amadeus X-One
The Oschersleben 8 Hour recorded an hystorical result: just behind the favourite factory supported Yamaha managed by Team YART the second final place has been catched, after a rece run always in the top positions, by the Team Amadeus X-One thanks the riders Paolo Tessari, Willy Gruy and Ayrton Badovini, a podium finish that an Italian team failed since 2002, when the Ducati finished at the second place at Brno. The German race had to be interrupted after quite seven hour, being hit by a strong thunderstorm and finally stopped as the weather forecast was rather pessimistic for the coming hours.
The first lap of the race, started at 2 p.m., has been eventful. The Suzuki RT Racing made the holeshot in front of Yamaha Phase One, but D.Cudlin, who was riding the British bike, falls early on the race. Absolute hero of the beginning of the race has been the astonishing Ayrton Badovini, started like a rocket and third at the end of the first lap, to take the lead at lap nr.6 and rejecting for sexteen laps the assaults of the great favourites Yamaha Austria and Michelin Honda. At the end of his riding turn Badovini let the bike in third position, and the event went on following this line in practice until to the fourth hour, when Michelin Honda joined the pit with technical problems that placed the team back in the classification. That allowed the Italian team to grab the second place and the riders trio, riding with great skill the Yamaha R1, drove back with confidence every adversary’s attack, finishing in brilliant way a race that could going to be very hard, oving the broken engine on Saturday and that only the skill and the passion of all the team did transform in a triumph, allowing Willy Gruy, Ayrton Badovini and Paolo Tessari to climb the second step onto the winner rostrum.
Maurizio Bargiacchi, soaked of champagne by the jubilant riders after the prize-giving cerimony, does not hide his satisfaction: “That’s unbelieveble, it is a result that we are waiting to get, but not in this circumstance after the broken engine at the eve of the race. I must say that this race has not been for us a 8 Hour event, but a 24 Hour with the technics during all the night busy to assemble a new engine and only later with the rider engaged on the racetrack. Tessari and Willy have been two warranties, as they are used to, defending the position against the rival’s attack. Ayrton, at his debut, has been astonishing, immediately riding in the top positions and even leading the race for almost half of first turn. The pit stops for the rider change and the refill have been managed in a perfect way by the team. It would be correct that the podium steps could be able to guest, with the riders, all the team crew too! This success allow us also to earn important positions in the championship ranking; apart from the factory supported Yamaha Austria that has a couple of wins, we could contest to everybody the position just behind.”
The third round of World Endurance will be the Albacete 8 Hour, in Spain, scheduled next July 4th.

FIM: Race
The 2009 8 Hours of Oschersleben finally lasted 6 h 40! The race had to be interrupted
after being hit by a strong thunderstorm and finally stopped as the weather forecast was
quite pessimistic for the coming hours. Leading the race from almost the beginning, Igor Jerman, Steve Martin and Gwen Giabbani took victory on the Yamaha Austria Racing Team with a four laps lead over the competition. YART strengthens his favourite status for the 2009 Qtel FIM Endurance World Championship title. After two victories at Le Mans and Oschersleben, YART leads now the championship by 28 points.
YART won at Oschersleben ahead of the Italian Yamaha Amadeus X-One of Paolo Tessari, Will Gruy and Ayrton Badovini. Amadeus X-One signed here his first podium after a faultless race and takes the third place in the championship after two races.
Third in Germany, RT Racing Team had a fantastic race with Jean-Louis Devoyon, Frédéric Jond and David Morillon. The Franco-Italian Suzuki had always been in the leading group during the race.
Behind them, two teams could have made a come-back towards the end of the race. The Team 18 Sapeurs Pompiers and their Suzuki ridden by Stéphane Molinier, David Brière and Jérôme Tangre finished near the podium, less than one minute from RT Racing Team. Same for Kawasaki Bolliger Switzerland of Horst Saiger, Rico Penzkoffer and Eric Mizera, in fifth place.
BK Maco Moto Racing Team was very well placed at the beginning of the race, but they stepped back in sixth place after some fuel pump problems, ahead of AM Moto Racing Competition. The French Suzuki lost some ground in the middle of the race as the gearshift support broke down. The German RMT 21 Racing Germany is eighth, ahead of Suzuki MCS Racing Ipone and the Honda Michelin Power Research Team.
Potential winner and great rival of Yamaha Austria, Honda Michelin Power Research Team lost the pace after three hours of battle with YART, as they had a problem with a stand during a pit stop, then they lost a lot of time as their chain broke down and last but not least they had a crash involving a delayed rider.
Bad luck was also with the British team of Phase One Endurance. Starting from the fifth place on the grid, Damian Cudlin crashed after a few laps. Back in the top 10, the British Yamaha was then delayed by a battery problem. Finally, a crash from Pedro Vallcaneras around 8 pm forced Phase One to retire.
The Kawasaki Atomic MotoSport also had to retire after their gearbox broke down, as they were holding strongly a third place in the Superstock class.
In the Superstock class, the victory goes to Qatar Endurance Racing Team with Mashel Al Naimi, Rashid Al Mannai and Anthony Delhalle. They managed to hold back the pressure from Yamaha LTG 57 Zone Rouge, with Franck Millet, Branko Srdanov and Michael Lalevée. The Suzuki Endurance Moto 45 with Alexandre Lagrive, Adrien Ganfornina and Nicolas Jaulneau completes the Superstock podium.
The next round of the Qtel FIM Endurance World Championship is the 8 Hours of Albacete, Saturday 4th of July, in Spain.

FIM: 4 Hours
After 4 hours of racing, Yamaha Austria Racing Teams leads the 8 Hours of Oschersleben, second round of the Qtel FIM Endurance World Championship. The Austrian Yamaha ridden by Steve Martin, Igor Jerman and Gwen Giabbani has a one lap lead over the Slovak Yamaha of BK Maco Moto Racing, ridden by Dani Ribalta, Andy Meklau and Victor Carrasco, and two laps over the Italian Yamaha of Amadeus X-One of Paolo Tessari, Will Gruy and Ayrton Badovini. Ayrton Badovini made the show during his first shift, as he was holding the lead for sixteen laps, against the discipline specialists in the like of Gwen Giabbani on the Yamaha Austria Racing Team and William Costes on the Honda Michelin Power Research Team.
The French Suzuki AM Moto Racing Competition of Sullivan Hernandez, Pierre Guersillon and Fabrice Auger just gave up their third place after the gearshift support broke down. AM Moto Racing Competition is currently in sixth place.
The Honda Michelin Power Research Team was the only bike to battle against YART during the first three hours. They lost contact with the race lead after facing some stands problems in the pits, and they had to suffer a chain drive break up in the following shift. They are currently in fifteenth place.
These troubles are all good for the Franco-Italian Suzuki RT Racing Team. They
impressed as David Morillon did the holeshot in the first lap, and they are now in fourth position at 6 pm. They lead the Suzuki 18 Sapeurs Pompiers, AM Moto Racing, the German Honda of RMT 21 Racing Germany, the Kawasaki Bolliger Team Switzerland and the Yamaha Phase One Endurance. The British Yamaha had a fantastic start with Damian Cudlin, but they dropped down the classification after an early crash.
The Italian Suzuki MCS Racing is also in the Top 10, just ahead of the first Superstock bikes, the Suzuki of Qatar Endurance Racing Team and the Yamaha LTG 57 Zone Rouge. The Kawasaki Atomic MotoSport is also on the Superstock podium.
