SONOMA, Calif. (April 23, 2009) — The motorcycle community came together at Infineon Raceway on Wednesday, April 22, as more than $27,000 was raised for both Speedway Children’s Charities and the North Vallejo Little League.
3J’s Motorcycle Track Days hosted an on-track event that attracted nearly 100 riders, who were treated to a full day traversing the twists and turns of the world-famous road course, plus a catered lunch and raffle.
Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit youth organizations in Sonoma County through the Sonoma Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities, as well as the North Vallejo Little League, whose home field was vandalized in mid-March.
The 3J’s Motorcycle Track Days program has distributed more than $225,000 since its inception in 2003. The program was created by Jere Starks, vice president of facilities at Infineon Raceway, and long-time friend Jim Randolph. Raceway employees Jenah Smith and Jerry Wheeler are also instrumental to the program.
“This is the best thing for any street rider to do,” said Stewart Goddard from Pasadena, who has participated in the track day the past three years, “You can come out here with other motorcycle enthusiasts, have a great day and learn to be a better, safer rider. It’s a great event.”
