Harris Performance, the British based engineering, design and development specialist, has completed the latest development tests of its Moto2 race machine and has announced that it is ready to accept orders from confirmed Moto2 teams and other interested parties.

When the outline specifications for the new Moto2 class were first announced in January 2009, Harris Performance took the early decision to develop its machine in association with top Spanish team Promo Racing and to compete under real race conditions in the Spanish Moto2 class, which has been run in conjunction with the 2009 Spanish Formula Xtreme championship.

The prototype machine led its first race, won the second race, took pole position and fastest lap in both and ran at sub 250GP lap record speeds at both Catalunya and Jerez. With data from those first two races, various design elements were refined and the machine has undergone further tests ready for the forthcoming final two rounds of the championship.

“We have some detail testing and development work to do on the all aluminium chassis and the aerodynamics, but basically the machine is ready for production,” explained Harris Performance director Lester Harris.

“We know from Honda that the Moto2 control engine will be based on the mounting points of the CBR600 Supersport spec motor used in our latest machine, and so once the control motors are delivered it will be a simple matter of slotting one in and then fine tuning the chassis set-up. We will then be operating a full technical support service at all IRTA tests and each MotoGP event.

“Basically, we are ready to roll and we are already taking orders,” said Harris.
