HardNox Racing Update
After a challenging opening weekend for HardNox Racing in Round 1 of the Western Canadian Championship at Mission, BC; the team returned home to kick off their home schedule in the CMRA at Race City Motorsports Park.
Saturday practice went well for most of the team getting comfortable at
race speeds on their home track with new motorcycles. The new Bridgestone
race tires provided an excellent platform for the racers. Rob Darlington
did suffer a crash though on Saturday. Going into the 160 KPH first turn
Rob missed a shift and crashed, suffering a concussion and broken right
pinkie finger; however he was able to race on Sunday.
Sunday dawned with beautiful weather for a race day. The first rider to
take to the grids would be Claude Bergeron in the BGPR Schools Heavyweight
amateur race. Claude got a great start from the middle of the grid and
had an exciting battle in the middle of the pack all race long. After
lunch the whole team lined up for the Middleweight Sportbike race. Rob
Darlington, Curtis Lindenbach and Colin Foster lined up a little farther
back from their usual front row positions. Rob and Curtis ended up battling
each other for most of the race while Colin fought hard to get into the
top ten. Claude too was fighting for a top ten in Amateur. Race two saw
the HardNox expert riders competing in the Mountain Toys Middleweight
Superbike race. After a great start Rob and Curtis fought all race long
with some new experts to the field for the top 5 positions. HardNox had
a productive weekend becoming acclimatized to the new Bridgestone race
tires and new motorcycles. With Round 1 under their belts they are very
optimistic for Round 2.
