laguna-secaMONTEREY, Calif., (April 29, 2009) – Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca today announced the details of the “Grand Prix Special.” A “Grand Prix Special” ticket will give race fans at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix the opportunity to not only experience some of the best two-wheel racing in the country, but also take a lap of the legendary Monterey Peninsula track led by some of the stars of the MotoGP World Championship.

After weeks of planning, some of motorcycling’s largest Manufacturers -Yamaha, Honda, Ducati, and Suzuki are slated to lead fans on a memorable ride around the 11-turn, 2.238-mile track.  Track officials also revealed they are talking to manufacturers Kawasaki, BMW and Buell about participating in the Friday-morning Fan Lap opportunity. It is anticipated that the MotoGP* riders will be leading the parade ride.

The “Grand Prix Special” includes a three-day general admission ticket, reserved grandstand seating in turn four for Saturday and Sunday, preferred motorcycle-only parking, goodie-bag from each participating brand and a lap of the track on Friday morning, which is slated to take place between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.. The cost is $175, a $215 value.

“We’re delighted that the manufacturers are giving the fans  this opportunity,” said Gill Campbell CEO/general manager, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “I think I’m going to have to go and get a Yamaha for the weekend so I can ride around the track with Colin Edwards or Jorge Lorenzo.  It just doesn’t get any better than that.”

The first 500 race fans that purchase the “Grand Prix Special” ticket package also will receive a limited-edition print of Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner battling in Turn 11 in their epic race for last year’s title, signed by the photographer.

The “Grand Prix Special” goes on sale 8:00 a.m. PST Thursday, April 30 and is expected to sell out fast.  For tickets and more information call the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca ticket office at (800) 327-7322.
