CRP Racing presented at MotorsportExpotech, the Italian motorsport exhibition, the new two stroke engine equipped with front disc valve and CNC-machined crankcase.

A presentation was given detailing the procedure and in cooperation between the two companies (CRP Technology and CRP Racing) to obtain the goal of improved performance, while maintaining the use of as many commonly available parts as possible.  The study and design of the engine, based on the standard Honda 125GP (43CV at 12900rpm and 2,5 Kgm torque at 12600 rpm) and modifications needed to aim for the goal of performances equal to 52Hp (according to European rule CE95/01), as regards power and 2,85 Kgm torque.

To reach these goals a new engine telemetry system was developed to better evaluate the performance of both the standard and new engines.  Through this electronics package it was determined that a new crankcase utilizing stiffer material, in addition to better fuel transfer was needed.

The project of the new engine has reached the goal in three years thanks to the activity of CRP Technology and CRP Racing that have focused their attention on the complete study, from the engine to the frame.

In 2009 a new frame has been tested in accordance with CRP Racing requirements able to settle the geometric parameters usually used in motorcycle like the steering angle, the offset and the pivot.

The need for an adjustable frame comes from the different positioning of the mass of the new disc engine. The frame has been tested on track with a standard 125cc engine and the new CRP Racing engines in order to evaluate their behaviours.

The use of innovative technologies such as Reverse Engineering and Rapid Manufacturing has allowed the engineering dept of CRP Racing to apply innovative procedures for the realization of mechanical components in accordance with the project development.

To highlight this significant step in R&D research in the motorsport field CRP Racing has created a “products” tab on the official website www.crp-racing.com. In addition visitors can find and buy the entire kit for the front disc valve engine, or the kit and single components of the reed valve engine.
