virDanville, VA (August 13, 2009) – At VIRginia International Raceway’s Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals AMA Pro motorcycle races on Saturday August 14, membersof the Danville and Chatham, Virginia Boys and Girls Clubs will operate a concession stand selling hot dogs, beverages and snacks. Funds generated will be used to support Boys and Girls Club activities in the communities around Danville and Chatham, Va.

Support for the fund-raiser is being provided by A Moveable Feast, the catering firm at VIR and Dan Valley Foods. When not “on the job” the kids and their volunteer club chaperones will be able to enjoy the excitement of AMA Pro Superbike racing and all the other events and activities at VIR. Those events include petting zoos, numerous manufacturer and vendor displays and pit walks with admission, parking and vending space donated by the promoters and track.

The kids will learn about meeting people, customer service, organising their stand and handling money. The Club’s annual parent-child banquet is funded by events during the year, including this new hot dog sale.

“We wish them every success,” said track general manager Josh Lief. “This will let the club members experience the biggest spectator event of the year at VIR, with all the thrills of AMA Superbike races, plus the off-track action.

Tony Muncey, owner of A Moveable Feast, echoed that sentiment: “the Boys and Girls Clubs do a great job of preparing children for later life,” he comments. “When we can start someone thinking about a career in food service or events, instead of just being a spectator, we’ve opened a new opportunity for them.”

Tickets for the ‘Big Kahuna’ are available at the gate. Racing activity starts Friday morning and continues with a full schedule of racing both Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets for VIR’s spectator events are available on-line at www.virclub.com, just click on “Buy Tickets” at the track’s home page.

VIRginia International Raceway is a multi-purpose road racing facility, located on the Dan River between Danville and South Boston, Virginia. VIR hosts a wide range of professional and amateur auto and motorcycle racing and track events, and is well established as “America’s Motorsport Resort.  For further information, call 434-822-7700 or visit our web site at www.virclub.com.
