Bicycle Event at Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix

laguna-secaMONTEREY, Calif. (June 17, 2009) – Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca announced that the riders from the 2009 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, their teams and media will be on track – but on bicycles to kick-off the weekend’s event together with pedal power. The event will take place on July 2 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. on the world-renowned circuit.

The fastest motorcycle riders will get to test their pedal worthiness on the 2.238-mile course and the media can experience the race track via the bicycle seat with the very subjects they write about and photograph.

To help the riders with equipment Specialized Bicycles will be joining the ride and bringing their tech trailer full of their state-of-the-art road bicycles, support gear and expertise.

The fifth annual Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix featuring round eight of the MotoGP World Championship will be on July 3-5. For more information, including details on tickets, parking, directions and schedule of events is available at www.MazdaRaceway.com.

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was established in 1957. The world-renowned raceway has been operated since its inception by the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), a not-for-profit 501C(4) corporation. Each race season, SCRAMP donates its net proceeds to the volunteer groups that help put on the races.

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s world-class 2009 racing schedule includes the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix featuring MotoGP World Championship July 3-5, the 36th Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races August 14-16 and the Monterey Sports Car Championships featuring the American Le Mans Series October 9-11.
