Round 2 of the WERA National Series was at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway. The #7 Team Zyvax R6 piloted by Dane Westby and Clinton Seller, finished 241 laps in 240 minutes, which is the most laps ever completed at the 4 hour event. This put the average lap time at a new record of 59.75 seconds, which is quite an achievement when the average lap time includes 5 pit stops to change riders, refill the fuel tank, and perform required tire changes.
In addition, this was the first time since 2004 that a mediumweight team has placed 1st overall at a WERA National Endurance Race. “I said at the beginning of the year that having Graves Motorsports built bikes would make the difference, and it has! We are getting more out of the Yamaha R6 both on the track and in the pits. This has made the biggest difference in our program.” Said team owner JB Layman.
Team Zyvax aims to set a new record this weekend at Miller Motorsports Park. They are setting their sites at completing 181 laps during the 6 hour event. This would make the average lap time at less than 2 minutes. So, come out this weekend and watch the action live. If you can’t make it, both of these events are being filmed by Avacado Studios, Inc. and are free to view by going to www. motoconnect.tv. Now you can see history in the making.
Team sponsors are Zyvax, Inc., Graves Motorsports, and Dunlop.
