Speed's Qatar Coverage
Speed Channel to delay airing of opening WSBK round
Reader John Garza recently alerted us to the fact that the Speed
Channel is planning to delay airing of coverage of the opening World
Superbike round in Doha, Qatar, from Sunday, February 27, until
the following Tuesday afternoon. He also alerted us to a thread
on Speed's forum, where a campaign has started an effort to convince
Speed to reconsider their decision. The thread can be found at http://insider.speedtv.com/viewtopic.php?t=67287.
If you would like to contact Speed in order to express your desire
that they air the Qatar World Superbike round on Sunday, you can
do so at http://www.speedtv.com/feedback/.
Please remember when writing your comments that Speed is this country's
main source of televised road racing. Below is a sample letter.
I understand that Speed is planning to delay airing of coverage
of the opening World Superbike round from Sunday, February 27, until
the following Tuesday afternoon. I would like to respectfully express
my dismay at this decision, and to add my name to the list of motorcycle
racing fans asking you to reconsider. With American Ben Bostrom
joining the series, and with all four Japanese manufacturers now
joining Ducati in fielding major efforts, World Superbike is once
again taking on significance. I realize that you must make your
decisions based partly on numbers of potential viewers, but I believe
that you may have underestimated the number of potential viewers
for this event. Thanks for your consideration and for your continued
coverage of motorcycle racing.
