May 16, 2006 Jamie Hacking
These days, Yamaha’s Jamie Hacking is a man in the lead; not only is he at the top of the Pro Honda Oils Supersport and Repsol Lubricants Superstock points standings, but he’s out in front on the whole track-safety issue, organizing riders to present their concerns to track officials on the entire AMA Superbike circuit. We spoke with him this morning as he was driving his motor home north to Infineon Raceway for this weekend’s race....

Josh Herrin
Georgia racer Josh Herrin is one of the few in the AMA paddock who are living the dream: He’s been signed to a respected team (Graves Yamaha), and he’s got great equipment at his disposal.… Now all he needs to do is turn 16. Though he was on track prior to the start of the AMA weekend at Barber, once the official schedule went into effect, the too-young-for-competition Herrin became just a kid on the sidelines....

May 2, 2006 John Haner
Millennium Technologies/KWS rider John Haner was on fire in the first Superbike race at Barber Motorsports Park a couple of weekends ago, finishing in eighth place and ahead of some pretty serious competition. Unfortunately, he crashed and injured himself later in the weekend, injuring his shoulder pretty badly in the process....

Geoff May
M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Geoff May generally wears an unsmiling race-face during event weekends, but a few minutes’ worth of conversation with the Georgia rider makes it clear that May is far more cheerful and relaxed than you might otherwise think. After reaching the Superstock podium twice during the 2005 season while routinely finishing inside the Supersport top 10, May began this year with a strong (though ultimately disappointing) showing at Daytona....

April 18, 2006 Neil Hodgson
After a long layoff, the AMA Superbike series gets rolling again this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park, so we figured we’d check in with Neil Hodgson, the man who finished sixth in the series last year, his first on the AMA circuit. We called the Englishman this morning at his U.S. home in Laguna Beach, where he answered our questions while locking himself out and tending daughter Hollie-Jean....

Chris Carr
If you think the break between the first and second AMA Superbike tour-stops is a long one, consider AMA Flat Track: The first stop was at Daytona back on March 9, and the next one isn't until May 27 in Springfield, Illinois. Worried that Chris Carr might be slacking off during the long break, we checked in with the series champ last night....

April 4, 2006 Mat Mladin
Yoshimura Suzuki’s Mat Mladin—six-time AMA Superbike Champion—doesn’t need much of an introduction. It’s been a long time since any rider has been able to consistently challenge the reigning king of the premier class, and though the Superbike field is getting stronger by the season these days, Mladin’s dominance doesn’t appear to be showing any signs of fatigue....

Rickey Gadson
Rickey Gadson began his career on the streets—literally—but after two decades of dedicating himself to the sport he loves, Gadson will go down in history as the first factory drag racer … ever. Aboard Kawasaki’s new monstrous ZX-14, the eight-time AMA/Prostar National Champion has already started racking up victories this year on the quarter-mile....

March 21, 2006 Kenny Roberts Jr.
With the 2006 MotoGP season about to kick off in Jerez, Spain, this weekend, we figured we’d post this interview with Kenny Roberts Jr., which we conducted in the Team KR big rig at the Circuit de Catalunya IRTA test a couple weeks ago. Junior is now reunited with his father, Kenny Roberts Sr., and they’re running Honda RC211V engines in their KR chasses. They’ve got a big challenge ahead of them, but they have more reason to be optimistic than they’ve had in a long time. Good luck, guys....

Jake Zemke
There’s no winner’s list like that of the Daytona 200, and Jake Zemke added his name to it last Saturday. Given the embarrassing pace-car incident, it was a crazy race, but JZ—whose race was actually adversely affected by the incident—kept his cool and did what was necessary to pull off his first-ever Daytona 200 victory....

March 7, 2006 Colin Edwards
As he prepares to embark upon his fourth season in MotoGP, two-time World Superbike Champion Colin Edwards has reason to be more optimistic about his chances than ever. For the first time since he entered the series, the Texas Tornado will be with the same team that he finished the previous season with, and Team Yamaha’s bike has absolutely dominated off-season testing....

Susan Robertson
Throughout her life, Susan Robertson rode dirt bikes, street bikes, and even karts, before coming to the realization that none of those went fast enough for her. That's when she discovered land speed racing. It didn't take long for her realize her own potential—during her first outing at the El Mirage Dry Lake Bed in California, she wound up going over 200mph on a Suzuki Hyabusa, becoming the first woman to break that barrier.....

February 21, 2006 Vincent Haskovec
Back in May, Vincent Haskovec was paralyzed in a crash during the AMA race at Infineon Raceway. Since then, the Czech rider has been confronted by many obstacles—even more than most people with his injuries. For nine months, Haskovec has had to be completely focused on his recovery. Early on, we let Vincent know that our website was available whenever he was ready....

Valentino Rossi
Interviews with Valentino Rossi are always welcome, but this one is particularly appropriate. After all, today is his day (Valentine’s Day), and his 27th birthday is on Thursday. Not only that, but he graces the cover of our new issue, which also contains an excerpt from his forthcoming autobiography, What If I’d Never Tried It. This interview was conducted by Italian journalist Enrico Borghi, who worked with Rossi on said autobiography....

February 7, 2006 Matt Lynn
New Team Millennium/KWS Suzuki rider Matt Lynn’s cell phone is getting terrible service in rainy Georgia, but the 21-year-old talks on, anxious to be heard. Entering only his second full season of AMA competition, Lynn is anxious to be seen, too, and the former Team Embry pilot hopes his move to the Suzuki support squad will help make 2006 a breakout season....

Aaron Gobert
One of the coolest parts of the late off-season is seeing the riders who’ve switched team in their new colors. One such rider is Aaron Gobert, the 2003 AMA Superstock Champion, who is moving over to Erion Honda after several years with Yamaha. We caught up with the Aussie this morning as he was leaving his Murrieta, California, house to run a few errands.

January 24, 2006 Larry Pegram
Riding a kitted Honda CBR1000RR, Larry Pegram made the top 10 in AMA Superbike on no fewer than five occasions last year, which isn’t bad for a 32-year-old who’s running his own team. Pegram is coming back for more in ’06, and we checked in with the talented veteran to see how preparations were going for the approaching season.

Jason Pridmore
Jason Pridmore is a man on the go. Between his job as Jordan Suzuki’s A rider, his Star Motorcycle Schools, and his exceptional skills as a golfer, it’s uncommon for him to find a free moment. We were lucky enough to catch him on one last night, as he was unwinding following a day snowboarding at Mammoth Mountain in California....

January 10, 2006 John Haner
John Haner is perhaps one of the hungriest competitors in the AMA paddock; talk to him for five minutes, and he’ll make it clear that he’s serious about reaching his potential as a road racer. Last season was Haner’s best to date; as a member of the Lion Racing squad, he finished inside the Superstock top 10 in seven of the 10 rounds and ended up fifth in the overall championship behind Roger Hayden....

Danny Eslick
MPTRacing's Danny Eslick was nowhere to be found when we called his Oklahoma house for an interview, which is fitting when you consider that Eslick has been something of a sleeper throughout his AMA road racing career—an easy-going, unassuming guy who rides away with surprisingly good finishes before the competition knows what hit them....
