Curtis Flux
From all the way across the pond we bring you this week's Sponsorhouse.com Privateer of the Week, Curtis Flux. Curtis is only 15, but that just means he has gotten a jump-start on his road racing career. Right now he's down £2000 due to a blown engine, yet he's still confident he'll have a shot at the MRO Championship. Road racing is big in Britain, and with plenty of practice and a little help from Sponsorhouse.com, maybe some day we'll see him in the British Superbike Series.
How long have you been racing?
One year minimoto, two years on 125's.
How did you get started in racing?
I had an interest in motorcycle racing from a young age, watching on TV and going to race meetings. One year my Granddad brought a minimoto and decided I could have a go at racing.
Why do you race?
To win!
Which racing schools have you attended?
I have been to the European Superbike School, Mick Bodice Track Training School at Darley Moor and Snetterton
What is your favorite track?
Cadwell Park. [It’s] a very technical track with a range of slow and fast corners—and the mountain!
What’s your proudest moment in racing?
Coming in third on my very first ride on a GP bike at Pembrey in the wet and coming in fourth at the end of season BSB meeting at Castle Combe in ‘04 when I first started.
Your lowest moment?
My engine seizing in practice at Brands, meaning I had to run in a standard barrel in qualifying.
What’s the best thing about racing?
It is very challenging; I like competing against others, the adrenaline rush and i just love racing!...
The worst thing?
Crashing and having any kind of bike failure.
What do you consider your strong point as a racer?
I am good at cornering, I can listen and take in advice from others as well as taking the lows with all the highs and my granddad also said that I have a good temperament when we have problems with the bike.
Your weak point?
I think I could improve my consistency on my lap times and improve on my qualifying times.
Who is your strongest competitor?
Benji Dawson.
Who is your biggest supporter?
My granddad is my biggest fan, he has been into motorcycle racing all his life.
Do you have a favorite racer?
Yes. Dani Pedrosa, because he’s a fast young rider who believes in himself as a rider and does not get involved in the paddock hype.
What are your future racing goals?
My short-term goals are to break into the BSB 125gp championship and eventually get to the world stage and become champion.
