Brad Holbrook
Who said you have to ride one kind of bike or another most of your life in order to take up road racing? Well, Brad Holbrook had never been on a motorcycle prior to his first track day. One year later and he’s already thinking about the next level. As we all know road racing can get rather expensive, and having sponsors can offset some of those expenses. There’s no better way to get those sponsors than with a free one-year membership to the Sponsorhouse.com member’s area!
How long have you been racing?
One year.
How did you get started in racing?
A local fast guy, Tamer Kekhia introduced me to Road racing, I’d NEVER been on a motorcycle in my life and after the first track day I was hooked! The next time on the track was my first race!
Why do you race?
The competition and the friendships that you make along with it.
Which racing schools have you attended?
None … yet.
What is your favorite track?
I’ve only been to two—PIR and Pikes Peak. I liked things about both, but I’ll say Pikes Peak because I was on it with AMA racers!
What’s your proudest moment in racing?
Winning my third Novice race. [Also] sneaking into the AMA Promoters Practice at Pikes Peak. There is NOTHING like being passed by someone who is REALLY going fast!!
Your lowest moment?
Anytime I crash…
What’s the best thing about racing?
The feeling you get mixing it up with a guy the whole race, then being able to go back to the pits than talk with him/her about how fun that race was.
The worst thing?
How much it costs. I’m going to put up my first-born child to finance my race season this year—[my] baby is due in May. Check out the sell on eBay … just kidding honey!!
What do you consider your strong point as a racer?
My lack of experience and knowledge. I learn a TON that way.
Your weak point?
My lack of experience and knowledge. It’s hard to go faster without asking for help!
Who is your strongest competitor?
Justin Lowitz, we both graduated novice together and he is really fast. I’m not really sure he is a competitor; I just hope to keep up with him this year!
Who is your biggest supporter?
My wife even though she doesn’t want to be, racing is sometimes hardest on the ones that have to watch us fiend for something like it’s a drug.
Do you have a favorite racer?
Locally, my two mentors, Tamer Kekhia and Chris Ancien, You can’t learn from two faster, better racers; and Nicky Hayden and the Hayden Brothers, they are from my home state … GO KENTUCKY!
What are your future racing goals?
I’d really like to finish in the top 20 overall and top five in my classes this year. And to have fun and race like there is no tomorrow, I also want to qualify to receive my AMA license.
