Michael Rajotte
It's a Canadian invasion! As of late, there haven't been very many Canadian success stories in AMA Superbike (Miguel Duhamel and Pascal Picotte are two exceptions that come to mind). That may very well change in the near future, as there seems to be a surge of up-and-coming Canadian riders; and while many of these riders may not have the advantage of a longer racing season (due to weather), they more than compensate for it with their passion for the sport and their "go and get it" attitude. That said, it's no wonder that just about half of the Privateer Profile submissions we have received in the last few months are from Up North. It seems then, that this week's privateer, Michael Rajotte, has good timing. Whether he decides to go for the Canadian Superbike or break into the AMA Superbike, he'll be happy to know that his free pass to Sponsorhouse.com will be there to help him either way.

How long have you been racing?
Two Years—my first year as a novice, second year as a amateur, now going onto my third year as a pro.
How did you get started in racing?
I started off doing track days with friends, and it got to the point where I wanted to compete against others.
Why do you race?
I'm a competitive person by nature. When I go out and line up on the starting grid, I'm always thinking "I want to win, I'm going to win, and I'll do whatever it takes to wax everybody!"
Which racing schools have you attended?
I attended Troy Burstyk's Westcoast Superbike School.
What is your favorite track?
My favorite track I've ridden is Pacific Raceways. My favorite in the world is the Sachsenring circuit.
What's your proudest moment in racing?
Winning the last race of the year, in the rain, with a broken collarbone to capture the WMRC Formula III championship.
Your lowest moment?
Breaking my left collarbone in a morning qualifier back in September. I missed 2 races and almost tossed away the entire season championship with this minor setback.
What's the best thing about racing?
The glory of winning. Sure it's fun to meet new people, talk, have drinks, laugh it up. However, I'm here to race, win and learn. That is what I enjoy the most.
The worst thing?
I would have to say the worst thing is probably those days when everything just goes wrong. Like the bike isn't performing up to your standards or how it felt the last time you rode it. Then it starts to trickle down and affect your riding for the day. Then you get stuck in a rut and have to work and ride harder to overcome these problems.
What do you consider your strong point as a racer?
My will and determination of not folding up like a cheap suit when things start getting tough.
Your weak point?
Others would have to say it's my starts. I tend to agree, and I should be working on them some more. Then I wouldn't have to play catch-up in the first lap all the time.
Who is your strongest competitor?
Hmmm, Geoff Hartman and my teammate Dan Ferstay. I've had some good battles with Geoff last August, which I'm sure would have been entertaining to watch, according to some of the spectators who were attending. Dan always pulls off quick laptimes to keep me on my toes as well.
Who is your biggest supporter?
My mom and friends, and of course John Bowman. John helps out a lot with mechanic work, etc. He is always razzing us to ride harder and faster. It's great!
Do you have a favorite racer?
It's a tie between Carl Fogarty and Mick Doohan. I like Fogarty for his cut-throat win at all cost attitude and his amazing corner speed. Doohan for his natural abilities and I admire that he was able to stay on top for so long as well.
What are your future racing goals?
To keep on racing hard and hopefully everything falls into place again and to win another title this year.
